Ellen Prohl

director of parish music

I have been blessed to serve as a leader of the church’s song for nearly 30 years and began serving as Director of Music at Mount Calvary in 2019. Church music has been a love of mine since an early age, singing songs around the campfire at summer church camp, singing hymns with friends in church, and playing the piano for chapel services for my dad, who is a Lutheran pastor in Illinois.  I took my love of church music and after high school began a degree in Music Education at Concordia, Nebraska.  I returned to school to finish my degree as an adult, and in 2013 finished my degree at Concordia, Chicago, graduating with a Music Major, Theology Minor and a Certificate in Parish Music.

I am the proud mother of two adult sons, Nick and Zach, who live and work in Illinois and who enjoy visiting mom in the warmer weather in Georgia! My husband Kevin and I, love exploring new places, taking trail walks, enjoying nature,  listening to live music and spending time with family and friends, and our two lively dogs.

Here at Mount Calvary I love hearing the beautiful sounds of people of all generations, singing God’s praises together, and I treasure the opportunity I have here to worship and serve alongside God’s people of all ages.   Stop by the church to chat about music or life or anything in between, you will find me wherever you hear music playing!

"My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed." Psalm 71:23

Jonathan Munnicha

Vicar

(Pastoral Intern)

Vicar Jonathan has been at Mount Calvary since July of 2021.  He was born and raised in Atlanta, GA.  His family immigrated to America after the Vietnam War.  He’s the son of a pastor who ministers to Laotian refugees.  Although being brought up in a Christian home with Christian values, Jonathan wandered from the faith.  He lived a prodigal life that led him to spend most of his adolescent and young adult life incarcerated.  Through the Word, the Holy Spirit, and the confinement to a 6 by 8 cell, God worked a miracle.

In 2017, Jonathan graduated from Concordia College New York with a bachelors.  He then taught high school for a year in the Bronx, NY.  In 2018, he began studies at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.  In his time in St. Louis he led weekly bible studies at the county jail and began a youth ministry that ministers to kids affected by violence due to drugs or gangs in the Ferguson area.

Vicar Jonathan enjoys preaching and teaching the Word of God while making new relationships with God’s people.  In his spare time Jonathan likes to go back in time and learn more about history.  He does so by reading or occasionally viewing a documentary.  His minor in college was history and his favorite time period is the 1960s.  The vicar is Lutheran through and through as his birthday falls on Reformation Day and his middle name is Luther.  Jonathan is excited to be at Mount Calvary because of their mission to ‘Connect People to Jesus and to One Another to Serve the World.’

jack knight

secretary

Jack Knight wound up in Warner Robins because his wife, Yvonne, got a job at Robins Air Force Base at the same time Jack retired from the Air Force after 30 years of service.  While his wife was away at a six-month long school, he agreed to bring the boys to church while she was gone. That first weekend, he saw a notice in the bulletin, asking for volunteer help in the church office “a few hours a day, a few days a week” until the current secretary returned.  In January 1995, Pastor Michael interviewed Jack and asked him if he’d take the job (for pay) until the secretary, who was absent, returned. Jack agreed to the temporary post which became permanent after the former secretary was unable to return.  When Jack’s mother was later diagnosed with cancer, he resigned to be able to get home to Texas and see her more often.  His mother responded to treatment and Jack was available to sit in when his replacement, had to undergo surgery. When she decided not to return to the job, Pastor Brighton asked Jack if he would like his old job back, Jack said “Yes” and has been at it ever since.

Jack has twins, Jack and Theresa, and sons Joshua and Matthew, all children being “Air Force brats.” His wife, Yvonne, is retired from the Air Force Reserve and civil service at Robins Air Force Base.  Jack has a couple of Associate degrees and a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Information Technology. His only hobby is working with computers. He builds and upgrades them and helps member of the congregation when they have problems with their computers.  While in the Air Force, Jack worked as a radio operator, administrative specialist, computer programmer and first sergeant.
