Music is a large part of the life of Mt Calvary. The following is a list and description of the various parts of our music ministry:
The choir is open to teens and adults. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 on the balcony in the sanctuary in the fall through the spring. The choir sings for all Festival Sundays in the church year and other Sundays as well. Rehearsal times vary to accommodate worship services in Advent and Lent.
Praises Ring Bell Choir
This group also meets in the fall through spring. Beginners as well as experienced ringers are welcome. The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7:30.
The Praise Team leads the singing at our Praise and Worship service on Saturday evenings year round. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at 6:30.
After the monthly Men’s Breakfast on Saturday mornings, the men have a brief rehearsal to prepare a hymn or song for services the next day.
Thursday Morning Play Group
The Play Group is made up of babies, toddlers, and their moms and grandmothers. It begins at 10AM with music time. For 20 minutes or so, the kids sing, play instruments, move and dance.
It’s a great time!
For the last 3 years, Mt Calvary has presented “Rough Wood and Rusty Nails,” a musical written by Music Director, Tim Jacobsmeyer. The musical tells the Christmas Story from the view point of Joseph. All church members are encouraged to participate as a cast member or on one of the support groups. Singers, actors, dancers of all skill levels are welcome. The musical runs for three days and is intended to be an outreach event to friends, family, and the community.
Besides the groups and events already in place, anyone who plays an instrument or sings is encouraged to contact Tim Jacobsmeyer if they would like to do a musical offering in any of the worship services.
